There Are Many species Of Mosquitoes

Mosquitos all have one thing in common and that is their annoying bloodsucking tendencies. However, there are more than 3,500 mosquito species but only a couple hundred feed on human blood according to the Smithsonian. The most common is the Anopheles quadrimaculatus, Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti, and Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito) among the most common. The Anopheles is also a malaria carrier while the others are known to carry encephalitis which can cause severe brain swelling.

Considered The Deadliest Creature In The World

The most dangerous mosquito is the Anopheles mosquito which is popular for being known to carry the malaria virus. The virus is nothing to be taken lightly as this mosquito-borne disease kills more than one million people every year.

Mosquito Predators

The mosquito predators are used to mitigate a lot of the overpopulation in many cultures. For example, mosquito fish known as Gambusia feed on mosquito larvae and are used all over the world to help control mosquito populations. Also, dragonfly larvae are known as nymphs and are a connoisseur of mosquito larvae. While the dragonfly nymphs eat mosquito larvae the adult dragonfly preys on adult mosquitos.
